Incorporated on February 13, 1995, Air Philippines Corporation started operations on February 01, 1996 with B737-200 flights to Subic, Iloilo, and Zamboanga on a Temporary Operator's Permit issued by the Civil Aeronautics Board.
On June 04, 1997, CAB granted the airline a 5-year Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN), the administrative franchise required to operate fully scheduled domestic services. On June 05, 1997, APC Legislative Franchise RA 8339 was passed by both Senate and House of Representatives and became a law on August 08, 1997.
The APC franchise is for a period of 25 years and has mandated the airline to serve not only the primary trunkline routes with aircraft of smaller capacity. APC has likewise been authorized to serve international destinations.
Near- term plans call for the consolidation of domestic operations by the deployment of jet aircraft to primary airports and the development of hubs through complementation schemes of similar aircraft types or continued use of turbo-props to serve the Philippine countryside.
In 2006, APC carried over 960,000 passengers.
And in 2007, Air Philippines has breached a million mark.
